AFTER spending the past few years concentrating on gas, Rey Resources is dusting off the definitive feasibility study it did on the Duchess Paradise coal project in that well known coal province, the Western Australian Kimberley.

Rey rolling the coal dice again.

After putting the DFS on the shelf for the past six years Rey has announced it will engage an expert to review and update the financial model and reflect current market conditions for coal.

It said it was in discussions with potential experts to determine the required scope and undertake the DFS review.

Rey expects the DFS review to take several months.

The company had planned to export up to 2.5 million tonnes per annum of bituminous thermal coal through Derby, with India as one of the main targets.

It proposed a highwall mining operation.

That was always a challenging option given the massive tidal shifts that port is renowned for.
