Millennium orders in to get Nullagine process plant pumping

MILLENNIUM Minerals has started the procurement process at its Nullagine gold project in Western Australia’s East Pilbara and put in first orders for long-lead, critical path processing equipment so the plant at Nullagine can accommodate sulphide ore.

The Nullagine plant.

Millennium's planned expansion of the processing plant comes as a result of a processing study on the extensive sulphide  mineralisation found a selected flowsheet design would let Millenium increase production to 100,000 ounces per annum over a five plus-year mine life.

The processing configuration for the sulphide circuit involves scavenging unleached sulphide concentrates from the existing carbon-in-leach tailings and subjecting them to ultra-fine grinding and intense cyanidation to achieve an improvement in the overall leach recovery.

The process flowsheet uses a well-known processing configuration that is similar to one used at the Granny Smith mine and at KCGM's Super Pit operations in Kalgoorlie.
