MTG launched its TwinMet hammerless tooth-adapter product at AIMEX on September 1.

The version it had on show is a hammerless locking system that can fit on an up to 350t hydraulic excavator.

The hammerless locking system means the different parts of the bucket tooth can be removed using a specially shaped tool, rather than having to be taken apart with a hammer. This makes for a much easier, quicker and safer tooth changeout.

Indeed, visitors to the MTG standard will be able to try the hammerless system for themselves.

Next year, the company will be releasing versions for smaller and larger excavators. It will have a version for up to an 800t excavator.

The Spanish company also had its full cast-lip system – which the Twinmet 3-part would attach to – albeit in hologrammatic form. After all, the full system weighs several tonnes and is not really the sort of thing an exhibitor can pack in carry-on for the flight over.

The system has been trialled at several mines in the US, South Africa and Europe. So far the results have been excellent.

MTG is also displaying the hammerless locking system it has for rope shovels.

That too will be launched next year.
