GROUND support maker DSI Underground Australia is buying privately-owned steel manufacturing and anti-corrosion service company Fero Group for an undisclosed sum.

Fero Group has manufacturing operations in Kewdale, Western Australia and Narangba in Queensland.
 
DSI Underground Australia CEO Derek Hird said the Fero acquisition would add galvanising and mesh manufacturing to DSI's Australian manufacturing capabilities.
 
He said that would allow it to better serve customers, continue to invest in research and development and increase exports to African and Asian mining services markets.
 
Fero owners the Perth-based Franco family have agreed to invest part of the sales proceeds in DSI Underground Australia's parent company DSI Underground Holdings.
