Hillgrove has already started working on replacing the failed bearing, and expects the repair to take seven to 10 days.
The company will also take the opportunity to get a head-start on other planned preventative maintenance, including a semi-autogenous grinding mill girth gear rotation.
That work was scheduled to take place in July, however, by bringing it forward Hillgrove can reduce the quarterly scheduled shut down by three days.
Hillgrove's primary crusher has been used continuously since 2013 without any major maintenance issues and, according to the company, the bearing replacement will return the crusher to full working order.
