AGL turns down Alinta's $250M offer for Liddell

AGL has knocked back a $250 million offer to buy the Liddell coal-fired power station in New South Wales Hunter Valley by Alinta which would have prolonged the life of the power station beyond 2022.

The move prompted a rebuke by federal Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg, who is seeking to ensure there is power generating capacity in the grid by prolonging the existing fleet of coal fired power plants....
