Six miners killed in China blast

SIX men have died in a coal mine explosion in central China.

According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, the fatal blast occurred about 3pm local time Monday at the Niulanchu operation in the Hunan province.

Six were killed instantly in the explosion, with another miner hospitalised with serious injuries.

Rescuers are searching for a missing miner.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion has begun, with initial findings indicating unsafe working conditions.
