While producer Oxford Coal has not made public comment, local news station WTRF reported Friday that multiple fire departments responded to the company’s complex outside of Cadiz, Harrison County, for a loader on fire.

The incident occurred at about 10.30am, July 25, with crews on site for several hours throughout the day to fight the blaze with foam.

No information on any injuries was available at press time, and a US Mine Safety and Health Administration spokeswoman did not respond to an ILN request for the mine’s production status Friday.

Parent company Oxford Resource Partners has mines in both Ohio and western Kentucky. It produced a total 7.4 million tons in 2010 and controlled about 93.5Mt of proven and probable reserves at the end of that year.
