Shanxi Jinshen Energy has signed on for three 50-tonne longwall roof support carriers from Industrea as the American power conglomerate proposes a $470 million takeover of the Australian company.

Industrea subsidiary Industrea Wadam will supply the Caterpillar 3126-powered low-emission machines for use in the Heqiu mine in Shanxi province.

Shanxi Jinshen Energy is a joint venture between Shenhua Group and Shanxi Coal Transportation Company, producing approximately 10 million tonnes of coal per annum.

Industrea managing director and chief executive Robin Levison said the new customer highlighted the strength of the company’s relationship with Shenhua.

“This latest order increases the already large installed base of [Industrea mining] equipment in China and opportunities for our service capability from our Shijiazhuang facility,” Levison said.

The order includes associated spares and training.

The order for IME roof support carriers is already under production at Industrea’s Thornton facility in New South Wales, with delivery expected in late June 2012.
