LAS VEGAS: Komatsu has used the MINExpo exhibition underway here to introduce its 930E-2SE electric drive rear dump truck, which incorporates field and technical experience gained from more than 2 million operating hours on 200 existing 930Es around the world.
The new truck offers options including an engine rated at 3500hp, superior retarding; faster cycle times in extreme applications and a vehicle health monitoring system.
The 1.1 million pound truck combines proven engine drive-train technology with a 320-330 ton payload. It is ideal for high speed and deep-pit hauling and is capable of operating at higher speeds while climbing at altitudes of up to 3660m without deration.
Komatsu also introduced an enhanced version of its PC400LC-6 hydraulic excavator, offering performance improvements including "active mode"; a powerful new emissionised SA6D125E-2 Komatsu engine; and the HydrauMind hydraulic system.
The excavator offers a bucket range of 1.25-2.68/3 cubic metres.
The company said the excavator is used in support of heavier mining and quarry equipment in the field.
Another product on show is the PC4000 mining shovel. Features include a standard 21.4cu.m front shovel bucket; single 1875hp Komatsu 16-cylinder diesel engine; vehicle health monitoring system; and new can with viscous-mounting system.
Electric drive and 22.2cu.m backhoe versions are also available.
The PC4000 shovel is well suited for loading 200 ton trucks in five passes and 240 ton trucks in six passes. A new four-pump, four circuit hydraulic system provides higher digging forces and faster implement speeds for reduced cycle times and greater productivity.
