The latest iteration of the wheel loader comes with four loader linkage configurations and a range of buckets to suit each job.
The 994H comes with a 1463 horsepower engine and an operating weight of 431,000 pounds. It features Caterpillar’s Rimpull Control System, Positive Flow Control hydraulics and Vital Information Management System.
Lift configurations include standard, high lift, extended high lift and super high life. These provide dump clearances at maximum lift ranging from 19.2 feet to 23.3 feet.
Bucket choices include coal, high abrasion rock and heavy duty rock. These are available in narrow and wide widths to suit the application ranging in capacity from 19.5 to 47 cubic yards.
The 994H uses solid steel lift arms that work through a Z-bar linkage, which features a greased pin design and an automatic lubrication system.
Its rear frame is a full box section fabrication designed to resist torsional shock and twisting forces. The machine’s cast axle-pivot mounting areas disperse stress loads for overall added durability.
An integral impeller clutch torque converter and RCS let the operator adjust power at the wheels to suit specific loading conditions by modulating rim pull from 100 to 25%. This reduces the potential for tire slippage without diminishing hydraulic capacity.
The 994H positive flow control implement hydraulic system uses four electronically controlled variable displacement pumps. These deliver up to 386 gallons per minute at a main relief pressure of 4750psi.
The PFC system also integrates concurrent valve control, providing proportional command of loading functions with electro-hydraulic loader controls, electronically controlled cylinder stops and automatic kick-outs set from the cab.
The Steering and Transmission Integrated Control System combines control of travel direction, steering and gear selection in a single controller.
The cab features automatic climate control and a 71 decibel sound rating.
For enhanced operator awareness the Cat Detect Vision rear vision camera system is standard and Cat Detect Object Detection is available.
Object Detection includes radars that detect objects around the machine and notify the operator of these potential hazards.
Along the Vital Information Management System, which allows real-time assessment of machine performance is the Payload Control System.
PCS allows on the go weighing, payload record keeping and analysis of parameters such as utlilisation, cycle time and fuel use.
