THOSE with an industry interest in our neighbor to the north will be descending on Vancouver next week for the Coal Association of Canada’s annual national conference.

Entitled “Canadian coal industry – growing to meet demand”, the event is set for June 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency in the British Columbian city.

The previous conference brought together more than 350 delegates from 14 countries across the world.

“In late 2011, the world’s population passed 7 billion people,” organizers said.

“With each passing day that number climbs even higher and so does the world’s need for energy and resources.

“The coal industry in Canada is meeting this challenge head-on, redefining what is possible from one of our oldest and most reliable energy sources – coal.”

Among the event’s topics will be “Canadian coal and global markets”, including the latest independent assessments of global and domestic market supply and demand and outlook and a review of Canadian thermal coal.

Also, “Doing business in Asia” will be presented by representatives of that continent sharing information on what it takes to do business overseas and “International business and the Canadian connection”, including the strategic advantage of Canadian coal and how it aligns with global mining plans.

The CAC will also conduct its annual general meeting during the conference.

Those seeking more details on the event should visit the association’s website.
