Fuchs will soon release new generation longwall fluid to overcome solenoid problems with roof supports which can cause safety problems and equipment damage. The product is currently going through an approval process involving a longwall roof support manufacturer and British testing laboratory Metchem. Specifically designed for use with soft water, the emulsion is said to replace existing fluids, however, Fuchs says the new product will be compatible with existing mixes and switching to the new fluid will simply involve changing the concentrate level and amending mixing regimes.
