Draeger Safety Inc has delivered 72 BG 4 self-contained breathing apparatus to the Kentucky Department of Mines & Minerals. The new BG 4s replace the department's older Draeger BG 174-A models. Six different inspection districts with mine rescue stations received 12 each of the new apparatus.
The stations are located across the state of Kentucky's underground coal mining regions in the towns of Madisonville, Barboursville, Harlan, Hazard, Martin and Pikeville.
Draeger said 95% of active mine rescue teams in the US are equipped with the Draeger four-hour breathing apparatus.
