While the coal rail shipper did not release a public statement before press time, spokesman Mark Davis told local newspaper the Fairbury Journal-News that the derailment of the line traveling from Wyoming to Hallam, Nebraska, occurred at about 12.15am local time.

Of the 126 cars and three locomotives, 11 were toppled in the incident.

No injuries were reported.

Davis said UP was investigating the incident and crews were onsite Friday for clean-up.

The derailment is the second for a coal train in the immediate area in as many months.

On February 3 another UP train had a similar accident just three miles from Fairbury on a different track.

In that event, 41 loaded cars left the tracks.
