Knight’s employment with County Coal has now “commenced to spearhead the company’s export coal sales development program”, said Cameron, who is also chairman of County Coal.

“The board is delighted that a person with Roger’s proven commercial and operational trading experience has agreed to join the company at such a pivotal time in the development of the company’s US coal supply and export initiatives.”

Knight was previously with Centennial Coal for 14 years as general manager marketing, being responsible for both export and domestic coal sales of Centennial’s thermal, soft coking and coking coal sales into Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

In particular Knight was responsible for Centennial’s annual thermal price negotiations with Asian customers.

Prior to joining Centennial, Knight worked in coal marketing at Coalex (Oakbridge) for 18 years where he was involved in domestic and export sales, vessel chartering and all infrastructure negotiations and contracting.

As head of County’s export coal sales division, Knight’s immediate focus will be the development of its export coal business in Asia, and to expedite early off take agreements for US coal sourced by the company prior to supply from its own projects currently under development in the Powder River Basin in the US, Cameron said.
