Last week Cline announced the formalized expansion of its New Elk mine in Colorado’s Las Animas County which is now estimated to contain 618.9 million tons of measured and indicated coal.

New Elk Coal has subsequently named David Stone and Darren Nicholls as chief executive and deputy chief operating officer, respectively.

The miner cites Stone’s experience as a mining engineer and general manager of underground mining with Australia’s Xtrata Coal.

Prior to joining Xstrata, Stone worked with Anglo Coal and BHP Billiton.

He will be responsible for the management of all New Elk personnel, management and operations, reporting to Cline’s chief executive and board of directors.

Cline Mining is a mine development and coal exploration company with significant metallurgical coal property interests in British Columbia and Colorado.
