The first 300MW unit has been synchronised a little more than 21 months after its boiler was erected.

The second 300MW unit is on track for commissioning before the end of the year.

The Butibori power plant has been designed to have zero effluent discharge thanks to the use of reverse osmosis.

All ash generated by the plant will be used by Reliance’s own cement plant.

Reliance chief executive officer JP Chalasani said with Butibori the company’s operating capacity grew to 1540MW.

“The projects under construction are progressing satisfactorily and, with our diversified portfolio of coal, gas, hydro, wind and solar projects, we are well on track to emerge as the largest integrated private sector power company in India,” he said.
