Chinese miner gets German support

GERMAN engineering consultant RAG Mining Solutions has signed on as a support technique and automation partner with Chinese miner SDIC Coal.

Chinese miner gets German support

The frame contract will allow SDIC Coal to draw on RAG’s roof support know-how as it expands its coal mining operations in China’s Xinjiang and Shanxi region until 2014.

In a celebratory ceremony RAG chief executive Dr Martin Junker and SDIC Coal board member Liu Yi signed a cooperative deal between the two companies for the next two years.

While the Herne-based services provider says all German coal mining activities have been under the central control of RAG since 1998, it notes it has been increases its global presence in recent years with international partnerships such as with SDIC.

By the end of 2010, SDIC Coal Co. realized total assets $US5.9 billion, with an annual production capacity of 25.98 million tons.
