ILN understands the deal is worth 700 million rand ($US84.7 million).

Under the terms of the deal, Wescoal will supply Eskom with 3.2 million tonnes of coal from its Khanyisa and Intibane mines.

Wescoal only won the mining rights over the Intibane colliery in July. First coal from the operation is due in early 2013.
