Company spokesman Rusty Dunn told the Associated Press the blast occurred at Caterpillar’s Carrier Mills, southern Illinois, facility in a detached paint building. He said the cause of the explosion and subsequent fire was not known.

One local report indicated the building was completely leveled.

The injured worker, whose name has not been released, was hospitalized. His condition is unknown.

The Cat Carrier Mills location and sister office in Norris City employ 70 individuals combined. The number onsite at the time of the accident is not clear.
