The company celebrated the April 22 opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Beijing’s Coal Tower.

The office’s staff has started evaluating mines designed with 1 million tons or more of annual production capacity.

L&L director and former Shenhua subsidiary chief executive Jingcai Yang has been working with L&L officials to identify operations that met the company’s safety, management and operational efficiency criteria.

The Seattle-based producer also will continue its work with Pennsylvania consultancy firm John T Boyd and L&L director Dr Syd Peng to ensure its acquisition targets meet international JORC standards.

L&L said that with the help of its advisory board member and clean energy expert Dr Che Ming Dao, L&L Beijing and partner Apollo Technology of Taiwan would initiate projects jointly for coal emissions control.
