No injuries in WV train derailment

OFFICIALS are still examining the scene of a Monday afternoon coal train derailment in southern West Virginia.

Local outlet the Register-Herald Reporter said 20 cars of a CSX train with an unknown total number of cars left the tracks in Meadow Creek, Summers County at about 3.25pm.

The loaded train spilled coal across the line, which also provides service for interstate traffic on the Amtrak Cardinal line.

CSX has commenced clean-up efforts and an investigation into cause.

The company did not respond to a request for more information on the incident.
