Injury management? There's an app for that

IN ADDITION to the equipment on display at Minexpo International in Las Vegas last week was a technology showcase - including the new InjuryCam application from California-based WorkCare.

The injury-management tool was developed for iPhones and iPads. It uses technology and trained clinicians to support workers at the time of a workplace injury or illness.

“InjuryCam allows us to extend the reach of our occupational healthcare services, and better serve our clients and their employees, by providing immediate access to a clinician when an injury occurs,” WorkCare president and chief executive officer Dr Peter Greaney said.

He said WorkCare developed InjuryCam to provide early intervention during the “golden hour”, just after an accident.

When trained clinicians step in during that important time, there is a window of opportunity to have a positive impact.

InjuryCam can be used as a stand alone service, or can complement existing injury management programs with after-hours support.

Greaney said the company’s mining industry clients had found the tool particularly helpful.

“It is ideal for companies with remote or multiple locations,” he said.

“The goal is to provide the right care at the right time in the right setting.”

WorkCare offers customizable programs to many industries, including medical surveillance, onsite clinic services, travel medicine, 24/7 telephonic triage, telehealth through InjuryCam and has a consulting medical director.
