They are based on the centre articulated MC57, a high-mobility carrier, which is designed to accept pin-on front-end set-up modules and back-end power packages.

Currently, two set-up package (heavy duty slide over mounted and extendable boom mounted feed system) plus five interchangeable power modules (atmosphere compressor, reciprocating booster, screw booster, hydraulic top hammer package and Wassara pump package) allow for 10 different configurations. With the impending launch of the GC30, a new, smaller carrier, a further configurations are available.

The Constellation series utilises Cubex’s diverse line of drilling equipment to achieve a variety of specialised applications:

* Aquarius three-inch, high-pressure W80 Wassara (water) Hammer – upgrade to W100 Aquila hydraulic top hammer, with four drifters to choose from

* Aries - mobile ITH drill with unitised booster compressor

* Orion - low-profile track production drill for long holes (automation available)

The innovative Constellation Series brings with it a lot of benefits to the mine operator, reports Jim Peterson, Cubex’s international sales manager.

“Along with the high mobility factor which means easy maneuvering and quicker set-up times, the mine will require less equipment inventory and fewer operators which means lower operating costs and more productivity.

Established in 1972, Cubex has developed a strong reputation for its specialised underground production drilling equipment that is designed to drill long, straight holes in any direction. Manufactured at the firm’s state-of-the-art production facility in Winnipeg, Canada, Cubex drills are used in every major mining area around the world.
