Gold still shiny but Witwatersrand not new

AUSTRALIA’S gold production was steady in the last quarter, according to the latest report by Surbiton Associates, in the usual case of swings and roundabouts, but the Melbourne-based gold mining consultant warns caution is needed on the excitement in the market generated by the recent gold exploration rush in WA’s Pilbara region, because the use of the Witwatersrand model is nothing new.
