MetroCoal bumps up Bundi

MetroCoal said Bundi would produce 5Mt per annum, with initial production beginning in 2015 and longwall operations beginning in 2017.

The update brings the project’s total indicated and inferred resource to 1562Mt of coal.

A 3m-thick seam with a 23km strike and a relatively flat gradient has been targeted for a longwall mine plan.

A concept study for the project is expected to be completed and released next month.

Bundi is located in the northern part of the Queensland’s Surat Basin south of Xstrata’s proposed Wandoan open cut and New hope Coal’s proposed Elimatta mine.
