A strong performance of producing 190,000 tonnes in the last week of the month helped and Whitehaven also hit a monthly record for exports with total sales of 1.24Mt.

“This is a positive outcome for the company as not only are each of the mines performing strongly, the company has been able the sell all of the coal produced,” Whitehaven managing director and chief executive officer Paul Flynn said.

“It is particularly pleasing in a period when the coal market has been quite weak that the high quality coals produced by Whitehaven are still in strong demand.”

Whitehaven aims to produce 10.7Mt this financial year.
