Pension pay-outs and transaction fees drag down Consol

CONSOL Energy has reported a net loss from continuing operations of $US321 million for the December quarter, which was worsened by a $5 million loss related to pension settlement and $4 million in transaction fees associated with the Marcellus Shale joint venture dissolution.
