Rio's coking coal ramp up

RIO Tinto’s Kestrel and Hail Creek coal mines in Queensland have had a strong September quarter, bolstering the company’s quarterly coking coal production by 3% and preparing the mines for an expected sale by the end of the year.

The Kestrel longwall mine produced 1.2 million tonnes of coking coal for the quarter – up from the 916,000t reported for the June quarter and the 816,000t for the March quarter.
