Under the scope of the EPC contract Primero will carry out engineering design, equipment and materials procurement and site construction and commissioning.

It will also conduct performance testing of the concentrator.

The integrated Mount Holland lithium project includes a spodumene mine and concentrator near Mount Holland in Western Australia's Goldfields and a lithium hydroxide conversion refinery south of Perth in Kwinana.

The 2Mtpa concentrator will process run of mine ore to produce 400,000 tonnes per annum of spodumene concentrate, which will be used to feed the refinery.

Primero managing director Cameron Henry said the award of the Mt Holland EPC contract was the culmination of an 18-month journey with the Covalent Lithium team.

"This project is not only a flagship project for Primero and our parent company NRW Holdings, but also a major project for Western Australia and the further development of the state's battery minerals supply chain," he said.

"We look forward to the challenge and ongoing relationship with Covalent."

Site works are scheduled to start in October, with the workforce expected to peak at 350 employees.

NRW CEO Jules Pemberton said it was good to see the Primero business continuing to grow.
