Ironbark early contactor involvement goes to Golding

NRW Holdings subsidiary Golding Contractors has been awarded an early contractor involvement contract by Fitzroy Australia Resources for the provision of project development services for its Ironbark No. 1 coal mine in Queensland.

Ironbark early contactor involvement goes to Golding

The ECI scope is to provide detailed design, costing and project scheduling for the civil and mining services required to develop this mine.

Construction is expected to start in second quarter 2019 should Fitzroy opt to proceed with Golding.

The infrastructure associated with the ECI includes the bulk excavation and stabilisation of the box cut, installation of portals, haul roads, site access roads, dams and associated civil infrastructure.

The award follows the successful completion of the 12-month Broadlea mining project for Fitzroy, which was awarded to Golding in September 2017 and completed in October 2018.

Fitzroy Australia Resources CEO Grant Polwarth said this agreement marked an important milestone for Ironbark No. 1 after the recent grant of the mining lease.

"This agreement with Golding is an important step toward construction and ultimately realising our vision for a modern and innovative Ironbark No. 1 coal mine," he said.

"The agreement follows the safe, efficient and highly successful Broadlea mining project and is a natural extension of the growing partnership between Fitzroy and Golding."

NRW CEO Jules Pemberton said the project showed Golding could provide an integrated solution by combining its capabilities in mine planning, coal mine operation, civil design management, and construction of mine-site civil infrastructure.
