Earlier this week Walta told delegates at the Diggers & Dealers mining forum in Kalgoorlie that New Century was just days away from production of reprocessed tailings at the Century zinc restart project in Queensland, and was on track to have one of the top 10 producing zinc operations in the world, once operations ramp up.

Production has now started Century hydraulic mining beginning on-site after refurbishment and commissioning wound-up both on budget and on schedule.

Operations at the Century mine will gradually ramp-up to 264,000 tonnes per year of zinc and three million ounces per year of silver.
