CONSTRUCTION of the Woodlawn zinc-copper project in New South Wales is 73% complete and Heron Resources is on-track for the project commissioning by the end of the year.

Mining contractor Pybar Mining Services has also begun underground activities on-site, with work focused on ground support of the box cut walls and the first portal blast of the decline.

Pybar has a four-year contract with Heron to carry out underground mining at Woodlawn, which will begin as soon as final adjustments are made to the decline route.

Engineering, procurement and construction contractor Sedgman has completed 73% of the main process and paste plant sites build, 98% of equipment purchase work and 92% of offsite fabrication works.

Additionally, most of the concreting and earthworks have been done, although work is still continuing on the lining of an evaporation dam.
