SHEFFIELD Resources will sell unroasted primary ilmenite from the Thunderbird mineral sands project in Western Australia’s Kimberley to Chinese mineral sands supplier Bengbu under a binding cornerstone offtake agreement.

Under the deal Bengbu will take 650,000 tonnes of primary ilmenite per year for seven years, which is the total volume Sheffield wants to produce as part of Stage 1 at Thunderbird.
