Excavator destroyed by fire

THE New South Wales Resources Regulator has reminded miners they need to report any dangerous incidents on site immediately, following a failed attempt to put out an excavation fire at one of the state’s quarries.

The fire started in the battery box of a 30 tonne excavator working in the quarry. Workers attempted to extinguish the blaze with two hand-held extinguishers but were unsuccessful and emergency services...
