Federal resource minister Keith Pitt told the Future of Mining Australia conference, via a recorded message, what an important role METS were playing in Australia.

"Australian METs exports are highly sought after," he said.

"They go to more than 200 countries and are worth about A$15 billion annually.

"Thirty-eight of the world's top 100 METs companies are based here. And they make a significant contribution to the economy.

"By 2030, Australia could earn tens of billions of dollars more from exporting mining technologies and create 80,000 new jobs off the back of our strong track record in mining innovation and our skilled workforce."
