Surface miners replace drilling and blasting at Indian mine

INDIAN Bhubaneswari Coal Mines is using seven Wirtgen 220 SM3.8 surface miners, which specialise in soft rock mining, in one of the country’s largest coal mines, the Bhubaneswari mine in the Indian state of Odisha.

Bhubaneswari Coal Mines is using seven Wirtgen 220 SM3.8 surface miners, which specialise in soft rock mining, in one of the country’s largest coal mines.

At the open-cut mine, the company refrains from blasting and drilling - instead relying on cutting the soft rock.
