Drill steel danger

AN OPERATOR suffered two fractures to his cheek bone after being struck by a drill steel that was thrown out of a load haul dump vehicle at a New South Wales underground coal mine.

Operator injured in drill steel incident.

The drill steel and a roof bolt had been left on top of the LHD.

The drill steel caught in the LHD's articulation point and was flung out, striking the operator on the cheek.
