Minecorp Chile ordered the Failsafe brake kits for General Motors-dealership SALFA, which will install the brakes on trucks operated by Orica Chile SA at the Codelco-owned El Teniente and Chuquicamata copper mines.

ABT CEO John Annand said Chile and the broader Latin America represented a significant growth opportunity for ABT.

He said Minecorp was also in early stage discussions with other potential customers wanting Failsafe brakes on their trucks.

Minecorp Chile director Sebastian Dibarrart said the initial order is the first of what is expected to be an ongoing supply requirement of ABT products into the Chilean mining vehicle market.

Dibarrart said El Teniente and Chuquicamata, with hundreds of kilometres of tunnels under development, would be an ideal end use of the Failsafe brakes.
