Jacon has added Voltas Limited as its India distributor.

The deal makes Voltas the sole India distributor for Jacon, a business unit of the Maas Group.

Maas Group CEO Wes Maas said distributing through Voltas' Mining & Construction Equipment Division represented a significant opportunity to expand Jacon's offering in a vital international market.

"Voltas Limited has an excellent reputation and large footprint, which serves the customer segments of mining, tunnelling and construction across the Indian market," he said.

"In addition, the range of products and services available through Voltas Limited's Mining & Construction Equipment Division makes an ideal fit with our Jacon product offerings.

"The synergies between our two companies in terms of product support and parts signals the strong alignment we both have with market demands.

"This agreement also demonstrates the confidence that Voltas Limited has in Jacon's products and support structure."

Voltas Mining & Construction Equipment Division vice-president Sharad Thussu said the agreement would significantly expand Voltas' underground mining, construction and tunnelling offerings.

"Jacon products are highly complementary to M&CE's existing product lines and provide us with opportunities to expand our reach into the underground mining and construction sectors," he said.

"In addition, Jacon's philosophy of designing and manufacturing products that are easy to maintain and repair and offer lower operating costs than other manufacturers will make them very attractive to our customers throughout India."

Maas Group bought Jacon two years ago.
