Aussie coal is 'critical'

COAL has once again done the heavy lifting for Australia’s exports, taking out first prize ahead of iron ore. However, rising production costs and sagging productivity because of poor government planning may crimp its contribution into the future.

Coal exports grew 11% for the year, which was not far behind the 17% for copper.
