The MinEx CRC launches on July 1, ushering in a new era of stratigraphic drilling that could bust through swathes of cover on the Australian continent and set up the mining industry for generations.

One of the signature programs of the new CRC is the National Drilling Initiative, which will start in the Northern Territory with as many as 100 drillholes using a mix of conventional drill rigs and the revolutionary RoXplorer coiled tube rig.

While the first leg of the NDI is still in the planning stages and it could take perhaps 12 to 18 months for all that data to be rolled out to industry, mineral explorers should take note of exciting stratigraphic drilling data just released from the southern Thomson Orogen straddling the NSW-Queensland border.
