The accreditation from Australia's national accreditation body for laboratories, inspection bodies and calibration services means the photon assay can be used as a direct alternative to existing fire assay methods for gold.
The first two Photon Assay units have gone to Ausdrill subsidiary Minanalytical and it was those machines that were used for the NATA validation process.
The accreditation involved validating the technology through a series including benchmarking it against traditional fire assay mineral analysis.
As a result NATA has issued accreditation in compliance with the ISO/IEC 17025 - Testing standard.
