Raspadskaya, one of the high production mines in Russia, is equipped with a complete Joy Mining Machinery longwall installation.

Commissioned in 2000, the equipment is the first and only high voltage face in Russia with a 3.3Kv supply for the shearer and AFC.

Since the longwall began operation, it has produced daily and monthly Russian record production rates of 24,000t a day and 355,000t in August 2002.

To date, the equipment has produced more than 5Mt and after the scheduled overhaul of the 6LS shearer, the longwall system will continue its operation at the face No.4?6?29 which has 3.8Mt of developed coal reserves.

In 2003, the Raspadskaya Mine plans to lift production even further by increasing face width to 300 metres.

There are 19 other high productive mechanized faces in the Kuzbass region, each of which mined roughly 1Mt in 2002.
