The seminars will be held on March 25 at Penrith Panthers and March 27 at Emerald Memorial Club.
The program will include presentations from researchers who have recently completed projects or who have significant progress to report on current projects.
These include:
- Nick Mabbott from ARRB, discussing fatigue monitoring
- David Nery, who will discuss access and egress from mobile plant
- Carmel Bofinger from Simtars, talking about heart disease amongst coal miners. This study is a follow-up from a previous project that showed significant differences between NSW and QLD.
- Julie Armour, talking about best practice control of sprain and strain injuries
- Anthony Hogan, who will discuss the management of noise injury
- Neil Pennington, who will talk about speech intelligibility and hearing tests.
As well, the Trust will introduce researchers who have been awarded new projects. These include
Peter Pfister from the University of Newcastle, who is researching coal industry safety culture measures,
David Cliff from MISHC, researching work breaks and rest periods and their impact on fatigue,
Lee Di Milia, from Central Queensland University, who is looking at shiftwork driver fatigue,
Hayden Cater from Southern Cross Safety, developing risk management strategies to improve health and safety outcomes and
Andy Rutherford, looking at longwall BSL dust control.
