Pitwise, established in December, will capitalise on the rapidly expanding coal industry in Queensland’s Bowen Basin by providing equipment procurement and upgrade needs to the sector.

“Focussing on underground coal and coal seam methane extraction, PitWise Solutions will partner with manufacturers of complementing products and services that fill the voids existing between the 'big three' OEMs in this market sector - DBT, Joy, Voest Alpine,” Pitwise director Shane Summers said.

This month Pitwise signed agreements with Inbye Mining Services and Waratah Engineering to exclusively represent the companies’ business interests in Queensland.

Inbye and Waratah already have a small interest in Queensland, but are looking to rapidly build their profiles through Pitwise.

From Pitwise Queensland mines can source the Waracar shuttlecar, hire machinery and utilise Waratah’s continuous miners, shuttlecar and feederbreaker repair and overhaul capabilities.

Inbye plans to build on its recent successes in Queensland which included securing a longwall rebuild deal with coal giant Xstrata. Pitwise will offer Inbye’s longwall rebuild abilities and extensive list of longwall equipment.

Spearheading Pitwise is well-known industry entity Shane Summers who boasts direct equipment experience on top of a close network within the longwall sector.

Previously Summers worked at Gordonstone (now Kestrel) as a longwall maintenance coordinator and at Newlands as a project engineer. His most recent positions were as the Australian business unit manager for roof supports with DBT and the Queensland state manager responsible for after-sales activity, where he gained in depth knowledge of mining equipment sales, delivery and after-sales support.

Over the coming months Summers will be introducing the company to potential clients.
