Building on the success of its hydraulic pump and valve component business, the monorail expansion, says company managing director John Abercrombie, is a logical progression for the company.

The first major move in breaking into the market was to appoint O'Toole, who has 15 years experience with mining equipment manufacturers, most recently spending five years as general manager of Inbye Mining Services.

Longwall Hydraulics' new Monorail Division will be based in the Hunter Valley and distributed throughout Queensland and the south coast of New South Wales through local workshops.

Abercrombie said the product will be supported by an international network and local expertise. Longwall Hydraulics will have the capability of a full offering - including design, manufacture, installation and aftermarket support.

"Longwall Hydraulics was the first company to introduce a competitive longwall pump into Australia and we have enjoyed great success with the KAMAT product," he said.

"We will bring the same level of service and commitment into the monorail sector.

"Increasing the geographic spread of Longwall Hydraulics will also assist the company in support of its existing business and the plan is to grow the workshop, stores and service in the Hunter as the product base grows."
