Power plant for Anglo

A WASTE coal seam methane (WCSM) power plant will be developed at Anglo Coals German Creek Coal m...

The 32 megawatt plant will utilise ENE’s modular Caterpillar spark ignition generator sets similar to those at New South Wales’ Appin and Tower mines.

ENE was awarded funding of up to $15.47 million in 2001 under the Federal government’s Green House Gas Abatement program. The funding was for an 11MW project at German Creek that would use ENE’s carburetted gas turbine technology.

The revised project, based on conventional WCSM technology, offers a significant increase in power generated and results in greenhouse gas abatement equivalent to 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

Once the documentation phase of the project is completed, construction is expected over the following year with full commercial operation scheduled in late 2004.
