According to the University of Wollongong Library, the first Minersâ Womenâs Auxiliary was established at Wonthaggi, Victoria in 1934.
On the south coast of New South Wales, the first auxiliary was established at Scarborough in 1938 (pictured). The auxiliaries sought to assist mining unions safeguard the health, lives and economic well-being of mine workers, especially during periods of industrial unrest.
